Are you going to join a webinar, Q&A session or speed date via Teams? Read here what to do step by step!
Step 1: Turn on your laptop or PC
A laptop or PC is the handiest. First of all, it's nice and clear. But it's also nice because you don't have to download the Teams app. On your laptop or PC you can simply participate using your web browser.
Step 2: Click on the link in your email
Half an hour before the start of the information session, you will receive a reminder via e-mail and text message. In your email you will find the link you need to go to the information.
Please note: you do not need a link for chat rooms. You can just ‘drop in’ there the whole day.
Step 3: Open Teams via the web
A pop-up appears in which it says: Open Microsoft Teams? Click on cancel. You can now choose to download the Teams app or continue via the web. You don't have to download the app, just continue via the web.
Step 4: Turn off your microphone and camera
You ask your questions via the chat, turn off your microphone and camera. This way the network does not get overloaded. Also nice: this way others won't hear your background noises and you won't accidentally come into the picture.
Note: Do you have a 1-to-1 meeting? Then turn on your camera and microphone. Otherwise it will be a very boring conversation ;)
This is how you turn off your camera and microphone:
Step 5: Participate as guest
Do you get the question how you want to participate in the meeting? Then click on participate as guest.
Step 6: Enter your name
Before you enter the session, you can enter your name. Note: the name you give is visible to everyone in the session. The session will be recorded so you can watch it again later. Your name is also visible there. So just give your first name. You can also fill in 'anonymous' if you like.
Step 7: Follow the session
Now you're in the Teams meeting. Check if your microphone and camera are turned off: there will be a slash through those icons.
You can ask questions using the chat function. You enter the chat by clicking on the chat icon. The chat then appears on the right side of the screen, next to the video. Sometimes you can ask all your questions during the information session, sometimes only afterwards. You’ll find that out during the session.
Is the session finished? Then you can leave by clicking on the red phone icon. Did you leave the session accidentally, for example because of a bad internet connection? No problem, if you click on the link again you will be redirected to the session.
The cause is probably the software on your device. Does it help if you do a Windows update or install the right drivers? Here's how it's done. You can also choose to install Teams, instead of visiting the session via the web.

Please contact the HAN Service Desk. You can reach them by sending an email to email@example.com. There is also a special online Teams meeting for questions to the ICT Service Desk.
Fortunately, most of the information is recorded. If things go completely wrong, you can watch it again later.
