Sivera Berben
Associate professor of Acute Care
Sivera Berben is associate professor of Acute Care at HAN and senior researcher at Acute Zorgregio Oost. She is passionate about practice-based research, Health 2.0 and multidisciplinary collaboration to improve quality and safety in the chain of pre-hospital emergency care.
Sivera Berben is an associate professor in the Acute Care research group. Drawing on her nursing background, she translates questions from the professional practice of acute and emergency care into scientific research projects. Thanks to her active participation in pre-hospital networks, comprehensive knowledge of the acute and emergency care chain and her international contacts within the Reflection Network, she is able to think outside the box and come up with creative solutions to complex issues in acute and emergency care.
Relevant research
Berben’s research focuses on the systematic improvement of care services and care processes in the emergency care chain, from first aid and ambulance services to the emergency department and intensive care. The Acute Care research line within the Research Centre for Sustainable Health Care covers a broad area. For instance, Berben leads research on the recognition of domestic violence of elderly people in the ambulance services and emergency department, and contributes to the development and implementation of multidisciplinary protocols in the emergency care chain. She is also developing a national research agenda for ambulance care.
