International Social Work Admission, Tuition Fees and Deadlines at HAN University of Applied Sciences

Admission Requirements

To be accepted into International Social Work at HAN, you need to meet 2 main admission requirements: your prior education and English fluency. It’s also important that International Social Work is the right choice for you. That’s why we ask you to take part in Matching.

Apply in 7 steps

Are you ready to enroll in International Social Work? Here we guide you through the 7 steps of the application process.

Tuition Fees

Your tuition fee depends on your nationality. And whether you’ve studied in the Netherlands before. Nationalities within the European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA) generally pay a lower tuition fee. The table below shows this as EU/EEA. This includes all EU countries plus Norway, Lichtenstein, Iceland and Switzerland. Students from Suriname also pay this lower fee. Check out our page about tuition fees for more information.

Tuition fees for International Social Work

2024-25

EU/EEA + Suriname: 1st-time student*

€2,530
EU/EEA + Suriname: continuing student

€2,530
Student with degree from Dutch institution
Already earned bachelor degree from Dutch university or university of applied sciences.
€8,750
Non-EU/EEA
Nationality outside the EU/EEA
€8,750

*In past years, the Dutch government lowered  the tuition fees for many students in  their 1st year of study.  As of the 2024-2025 academic year, that will no longer apply.

Financial guarantee (non-EU/EEA)

The cost of living in the Netherlands may be very different from in your home country. That’s why you're required to pay a financial guarantee. This amount covers your tuition fee and your cost of living. Paying this ensures you have sufficient funds to live and study in the Netherlands. The financial guarantee is a requirement of the visa process.
