During the last week of January (from 27 to 31 January 2025), there are no classes for the School of Engineering and Automotive (AEA) students. These are filled in with the special AEA Event Week and is packed with activities by and for students. Hence the name: Event Week!

What can you expect?

Monday 27 January 2025

  • Full day: Company excursions | 1st-year students AUM, EEE, ESE, ME

Through these company excursions, students get an idea of their future work field, they can gain some experience in professional practice through a workshop and/or tour. The 1st-year students have received an email with instructions on how to register for an excursion.

  • 09.30 - 10.30: S3 Event EEE, ESE, ME with presentation projects | location canteen R31

All students who have completed an S3 project will gather to show their results. The A3 poster made of each project will be shown, but there will also be an opportunity to show and view products made (or photos of them).

  • 11.00 - 13.00: S4 Meet & Greet EEE, ESE, ME | location canteen R31

Prior to this M&G, information on the projects will be made available. This will be in the form of a description of the projects. During the M&G, you can get in touch with the clients of these projects. You can ask questions and possibly indicate your interest in the project. But you are not the only student the principal talks to. So make sure the client of the projects you would like to participate in knows who you are. You can do this by leaving a CV or portfolio (with a recent photo), for example. In doing so, also clearly state what sets you apart from your fellow students. Things you want to learn or skills you have that could be useful for the project. After the M&G, you can indicate your preference for a project via an (online) application form. This preference will be passed on to the principals. They can then also indicate which students they would like to see in their project. Both students‘ and clients’ preferences will influence placement.

  • 14:00 - 16:00: S6 Meet & Greet | AUM, EEE, ESE, ME | location canteen R31

Amoras exclusive excursions to leading companies in the engineering and automotive technology sector. This is your chance to take a look behind the scenes at companies that are pushing boundaries and shaping the future!

  • 18.00 - 19.00: Parents' evening | 1st-year Automotive Engineering (English-language, online) 

These meetings will look back at semester 1 and look ahead to semester 2. The 1st-year international students have received the invitation to this in their HAN student mailbox. They are requested to forward it to their parents so that they can register via a link.

  • 09.00 - 17.00: The Care Hackaton | HAN Health Concept Lab

Wilhelmina Children's Hospital (UMC Utrecht) is working with HAN Health Concept Lab on simulations with baby dolls to train healthcare providers for life-threatening situations. During this challenge, students and engineers from GET and Cap Gemini are developing a ‘vital signs monitor’ simulator, combining low-level code (for sensors and blood pressure measurements) with high-level code (for the graphical interface).

  • 13:00 - 16:30: Symposium Health Concept Lab

Featuring interesting keynote speakers and presentations of innovative healthcare technology concepts.

  • 15.00 - 17.00: HAN Minormarkt | location: ground floor auditorium on R26

For all students wishing to pursue a minor in academic year 2024-2025 or 2025-2026. Ideal to get informed about one or more minors. You can ask questions with students and lecturers, attend information sessions or attend a presentation. 

  • 18.30 - 20.30: Parents' evening | 1st-year Engineering students EEE ESE ME | locations: R26 and R29

  • 09.00 - 15.00: Final presentation wind turbine project | 1st-year ME| location: R26 B wing

Energetic conclusion of the S1 project in which 20 student groups run their self-designed and built wind turbine in a wind tunnel. In a competition, students compete for the highest efficiency, with the question: which windmill pumps up the most water? Furthermore, the weight of the windmill also counts with the question: which windmill pumps up the most water relative to its weight?

  • 09.00 - 13.00: HAN H2 Event (hydrogen) | location: R29

The Hydrogen Engineering Theme Route, GroenvermogenNL, Lectureship Balanced Energy Systems and the H2cluster join forces in this event.

The event kicks off with keynote speakers Hans Rienks on behalf of Sustainable Energy Perspective and René Ammerlaan on behalf of Firan. Both are part of Alliander. The gentlemen will take us through a presentation on hydrogen distribution, Alliander's practice and plans.

This will be followed by ‘a menu’ of presentations on current projects and developments within vocational education, research and business in the field of hydrogen technology.

We will conclude the event with a networking lunch equipped with various demonstrations and the opportunity for an excursion to the Hydrogen Lab & Mobility Lab at HAN@Connectr.

So come and share knowledge, meet (new) people and, above all, be informed and inspired during the sessions of your choice!

  • 13.00 - 18.30: Tech Day Amoras | all students AUM, EEE, ESE, ME

Get inspired at this Techday with various Tech Talks including AI, Quantum Computing, CNC machines and many workshops!

At the Tech Day, you can acquire all kinds of knowledge on the coolest and most interesting topics! There are several workshops and training sessions available; please make reservations for each session so that you can receive your personal schedule by e-mail in advance! This day is organised by members of study association Amoras.

  • 13.30 - 18.00: HAN Lean Event | location: R26

We will start the HAN Lean Event 2025 with 3 different knowledge sessions on the application of digital technology and a Robotics@HAN demonstration. Afterwards, we will put the spotlight on the improvement projects of our minor students. From 14:30 to 17:30, you can watch and listen to 4 presentations by our students in 2 blocks. We will conclude the afternoon with the award ceremony for the best improvement project of this academic year and a pleasant networking opportunity!

  • 09.00 - 17.00: ESE Day | all students, staff and alumni ESE | location: Connectr (IPKW site)

This ESE Day is one of the highlights of the academic year for the Embedded Systems Engineering programme. The inspiring gathering brings together students from all study years, lecturers, alumni and companies to share knowledge, exchange experiences and strengthen ties within the ESE community. Aiming to amaze, deepen and connect, the ESE Day offers a varied programme starting at 9 am and lasting all day.

The morning is dominated by engaging workshops and presentations delivered by students, alumni and companies.

A communal lunch will be followed by a keynote session in which a renowned speaker will address the current and crucial topic of security within embedded systems. The keynote will be enhanced by concrete, up-to-date real-life examples that not only provide insight into the challenges, but also show how they can be successfully addressed.

The day will end with a networking activity and informal drinks, where participants will have the opportunity to make new contacts and exchange ideas in a relaxed manner.
