Story of Asha

Asha Dijkstra was adopted from India. As a young girl, she was not able to grow up with her biological parents. Themes such as identity, inclusion, and gender equality are deeply intertwined with her personal story, supported by research. Asha now works as a Senior Strategic Policy Advisor for ROC Nijmegen and contributes as an expert by experience to discussions on adoption policy. Additionally, she runs her own foundation, the Aara Foundation.

The Losing Game

What if your life is an endless circle because the system keeps you trapped? Iraqi Mustafa was 14 when he fled to Europe alone. After a years-long journey, 'the game,' he finally reaches the Netherlands. Relieved, he thinks he can finally go to school and start his life, but then the system turns against him once again. In this lecture by documentary maker Els van Driel, we watch this short documentary, and Els shares insights into her work and the filmmaking process.

Happiness & Stress at work

Join the 'Networking Event: Happiness and Stress at Work' during HAN's International Week Health & Social Studies and connect with (international) guest speakers, lecturers, and colleagues from the field. Dr. Kilian Wawoe will give a presentation about happiness and stress in the workplace. Why are some people happier than others? What causes some individuals to experience more stress? In this lecture on the psychology of happiness and stress, you will discover the key psychological factors that contribute to well-being and emotional resilience. Topics such as the impact of positive emotions, relationships, and purpose on happiness will be discussed. Additionally, the lecture will cover how stress develops and its effects on our mental and physical health. By the end of the session, you will have practical insights and tools to enhance your own happiness and better manage stress in your daily life. Please register for this event.
