Sadegh Seddighi
Dr Sadegh Seddighi, Professor at the Research Center Balanced Energy Systems

As a professor at the Research Center for Balanced Energy Systems, I focus on advancing sustainable energy solutions through innovative research and practical applications. Our goal is to bridge the gap between academic research and industrial implementation by fostering collaborations that drive the energy transition forward. My research specifically explores technologies for energy storage, hydrogen and alternative fuels, thermal management, smart energy systems and the integration of renewable energy sources. Working with local and international partners, the Research Center for Balanced Energy Systems contributes to the development of scalable, balanced energy solutions that benefit both industry and society. Our vision is to create a future where energy systems are more efficient, affordable, sustainable and resilient.

The energy transition is a broad and transformative change that requires significant economic, social, and political steps.
More about Sadegh
Sadegh holds a PhD in Energy Technology from Chalmers University of Technology and a MSc in Mechanical Engineering from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, both in Sweden.
With a diverse background in both academia and industry, he has contributed to several fields, including energy technology, thermal fluid science and the design and construction of high-tech devices and equipment. Before joining HAN, Sadegh held leadership positions as Vice President (VP) for Research and VP for International Affairs, and was an associate professor of Mechanical Engineering.
He has worked extensively with leading industry partners, including Valmet Power Oy and Metso in Finland, as well as Fortum in Sweden and the Swedish Energy Agency, and has successfully completed a number of projects throughout Europe and Asia. He has also represented Sweden as a delegate to the International Energy Agency (IEA), where he contributed to initiatives aimed at energy diversification in Europe.
In addition to his academic, industrial and management roles, Sadegh has extensive experience as a project manager, designer, mechanical engineer and programmer.
Balanced Energy Systems
The Research Center Balanced Energy Systems researches and develops solutions within the energy transition. We work closely with the Sustainable Electrical Energy Centre of Expertise (SEECE) in this respect. We obtain the knowledge for this through our own test and development facilities focused on sustainable electrical energy and hydrogen technology.

Engineering and automotive
The School of Engineering and Automotive offers education in many different areas. For example, in the areas of renewable energy, the energy transition, lean, sustainable mobility and autonomous transportation. Also, our research centers investigate current, societal issues.
