European consortium of ten higher education institutions around Responsible Living for the Next Generations.

Background

UP University is an alliance of 10 universities and universities of applied sciences strategically positioned in mid-sized, noncapital cities across the four corners of Europe and deeply embedded in their regional ecosystems. We are united by a shared mission to foster Responsible Living for the Next Generations.

It is UP University’s mission to foster Responsible Living for the Next Generations. Within 3 SDG domains (3, 11 and 12), our consortium will educate and empower citizens, including our students and staff as well as regional stakeholders, to take social responsibility in addressing present and future challenges.

This alliance is developed in response to the European Programme ‘European Universities Initiative’.
Our consortium is in anticipation of the assessment of the proposal from spring 2024.

This consortium arose in 2021, when AUAS and HAN explicitly expressed their mutual ambition of establishing a network of like-minded European HEIs in a strategic partnership agreement. At this moment, the consortium exists of ten full partners And 31 associated partners over the four corners of Europe.

OUR ACTIVITIES

The consortium will jointly develop innovative education, aimed at futureproof skills and sustainability, offered in various formats for inclusive access. Second, it will connect regional innovation hubs into a European ecosystem for research and innovation that will welcome staff, students and stakeholders to a co-creative process for developing applicable solutions to societal challenges, boosting science with and for society.

OUR IMPACT

The ten UP consortium partners support over 125.000 learners per year, with numbers ranging from 3.000 to 30.000 across individual institutions. Together, we offer a full range of programmes from EQF level 5 up to 8 ensuring a complete academic trajectory for students. Despite our extensive offer in exact sciences, most students are enrolled in programmes relating to societal and behavioural sciences. The UP consortium’s wide range of study programmes is offered in 13 different languages in addition to English.
