Your tuition fees depend on your nationality. And whether you’ve studied in the Netherlands before. Exchange students from partner universities pay tuition to their home institution only.

EU/EEA or non-EU/EEA?

EU/EEA stands for European Union / European Economic Area. Do you have a passport for one of these countries or for Switzerland? Then you are considered an EU/EEA citizen. Do you have a passport for another country? Then you are considered a non-EU/EEA citizen. Want to check if your country is part of the EU or EEA? Go to the site of the Dutch Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND).

Bachelor degrees

Tuition fees for bachelor degrees in the 2024-2025 academic year.
Have you already earned a bachelor degree in the Netherlands? Then you have to pay the higher tuition fees (non-EU/EEA).

Tuition fees - exchange programs

Are you studying at one of HAN’s partner universities? Then you don’t have to pay a fee to take an exchange program at HAN. You simply pay the regular tuition at your home institution. Is your university a HAN partner? Check the partners list.

Payment

You have to pay your tuition fees before you start your program at HAN. But how does that work? How you pay depends on which type of bank account you have. Also good to know: you can pay in full or in installments. Handy!

For non-EU/EEA students
 

Do I need financial guarantee?

As well as tuition fees, non-EU/EEA students also have to pay a financial guarantee. It's to make sure you have enough money to live and study in the Netherlands. After all, the cost of living in the Netherlands can be quite different from your home country. The financial guarantee is part of the visa process and only applies to students wishing to do a bachelor or master program in full-time.
