Services

As a student, you can borrow books and other materials free of charge. You’ll need your HAN card. Use your card to check out materials at the self-service stations or just go to the front desk.

The standard loan period is 4 weeks, with the possibility of renewal. Please note! Some materials have a shorter loan period. This is indicated in our catalog and will be noted when you check out materials.

Is a book at another location? You can also request materials from Arnhem in Nijmegen and vice versa. Contact one of our staff members for assistance.

Is a book or article not available with us, but is it available somewhere else? Then we can request it for you! This does incur costs.

Finished with the materials? Return them to the place where you checked them out. Be sure to return (or renew) materials on time.

You can reserve materials free of charge at all locations of the HAN Library. It does not matter whether the material is on loan or not. You may place a maximum of ten reservations.
Is it a day loan or study copy? Then you cannot reserve it.

You can easily arrange this yourself yourself via the catalog:

• Look up the material in the catalog and click on ‘reserve’.
• Log in with your HAN e-mailaddress and password.
• Next, select the desired pick-up location.
• You'll receive an email when your reservation is ready to be picked up.
• You can pick up your reservation within one week by presenting your HAN card at the front desk of the selected library.

Of course, you can also visit the reception desk of a HAN study centre to make an appointment.

You can also request materials from Arnhem in Nijmegen and vice versa, but you can’t do this online. Contact one of our staff members for assistance.

Have your materials expired, but you're not done with them yet? No worries. You can renew your items as long as no one else has reserved them. Each item can be renewed up to 10 times.

You can easily renew your items in the catalog:

• Log in with your HAN e-mailaddress and password.
• Click on Loans and renewals
• and renew the items

In addition to the physical collection of books and journals, HAN offers a wide range of digital resources. These include e-books, online academic articles, specialized databases and handy libguides.

Through HANQuest, these resources are easily accessible, sometimes after logging in with your HAN account.

In addition, there are specialized databases specific to certain subject areas. These databases contain not only articles, but also statistics, research reports, and other valuable resources essential for in-depth research and study. Search this list for a database!

Note!
For some databases/digital resources/digital tools, you can create a personal account to use additional features such as notifications, storage et cetera. If you do this, please check their Privacy Conditions first, so you know what personal data will be stored. It is your own responsibility whether you share your personal data. Hogeschool van Arnhem en Nijmegen is not liable in case of data leaks from such databases / digital sources / digital tools.

Finally, we provide access to Libguides. These are practical tools that guide students and staff in the use of resources. The LibGuides contain information and tips on how to use various resources effectively. Libguides are compiled by HAN information specialists and offer direct links to relevant databases, search strategies and useful tips for finding literature.

RU students and staff can borrow books free of charge at the HAN Library.

Please report to the library at Kapittelweg 33 or 35.
ring the following items with you to register:

• Proof of enrollment at RU = student card + registration card (or Studielink login) / staff card
• Valid ID (passport, identity document, driver's license)
• Valid proof of address (log in with RU account, or studielielink, bank statement, payslip, contract, insurance papers)
