About Frederieke Damme
Frederieke Damme brings a strong track record in senior leadership positions, which she gained after her studies in Public Administration and Law at the University of Groningen. For example with the Public Prosecution Service, where she is currently serving as Prosecutor General. Prior to that, she served as Deputy Director-General at the RIVM, and held several leadership positions, including Director of Operations at the Ministry of Finance, Director of the Knowledge and Communication Center of the Tax and Customs Administration. Frederieke has broad experience in organizational management, including finance and control, information management and digitalization, HR, and learning and development.
Curiosity sparked
Frederieke is very much looking forward to this new step. "After 33 years in government service, I'm ready for a different administrative environment. Higher education is a sector that has sparked my curiosity. Universities of applied science play a significant role as drivers of change in society. I'm eager to contribute to the social impact HAN creates through education, research, and collaboration with the professional field. Impact in the region of Arnhem-Nijmegen – where I live – and perhaps even more importantly: in the lives of especially young people."
Frederieke says that supporting the development of people has been one of the most rewarding aspects of her work over the past 20 years. She also has a link with education: “It was instilled in me from an early age, with parents who both worked in education. I look forward to getting to know HAN, my new colleagues, and the students."
The right person for the job
Peter van Laarhoven, chair of the Supervisory Board, commented on Frederieke's appointment: "Frederieke's impressive career, administrative experience in complex organizations, and strong and enthusiastic personality make her the perfect candidate for this position. We are confident that, together with Rob Verhofstad and Aly Smelt-Medendorp, she will be able to provide direction for the HAN in the coming years."
Worthy successor
Rob Verhofstad and Aly Smelt-Medendorp are also looking forward to the arrival of their new fellow board member. “We are convinced that Frederieke is a worthy successor to Yvonne de Haan. With her extensive leadership experience and expertise in the areas where Yvonne's departure leave a gap, Frederieke complements us well."
