Master Engineering Systems: Sustainable Energy Full-time

The program starts 1 September 2026 and 1 February 2027
Sustainable and renewable energy systems are crucial to the energy transition. Engineers are needed to develop and fine-tune these systems. Want to master up your engineering skills and specialize in this rewarding new field? Sign up for the Sustainable Energy master track at HAN!

Sustainable Energy: quick facts
What do you learn?
You learn to model and validate systems with multiple inputs and outputs. How? Using both white-box modelling and system identification. In this track, the focus is on sustainable energy systems. So you learn all about sustainable technology and energy system integration (ESI). You also get to choose part of your program: focus either on hydrogen technology or power supply.

What can you do with this master of science?
With this master degree, you’re an authority on sustainable energy systems. Your role in the energy transition is crucial. You develop the technology, models and smart control for sustainable systems. Systems that generate, store or distribute energy at local, regional or international level. Where you could work? At an SME, grid operator, energy provider or a government department.

Meet Your Future Network!

You can join the Open Evening on 3 June 2026 and the Open Day in November 2026, where we offer an online session about the Master Engineering Systems programme. These events can also be attended on campus in Arnhem. Registration for the on‑campus sessions is available through the Dutch website: HAN University of Applied Sciences.

Education at HAN and in the Netherlands
The atmosphere in a Dutch classroom is quite informal and your lecturers are easy to talk to. In fact, at Dutch universities like HAN, you’re seen as a partner in the learning process. Class sizes are small and your lecturers encourage you to actively participate in class. To ask questions. To give your own opinion. They also stimulate you to be creative. And to discover things for yourself.
